The paradox of the Enea data: the price of raw materials and fuels soars, but Italians consume more

by admin

The costs of raw materials are rising considerably and expensive energy has brought up the price of bills. Incidentally, the increase will be felt in particular during the first quarter of 2022. Despite this, the Italians have not curbed energy consumption.

The data provided by Enea during its quarterly analysis of the national energy system and considering the period July – September 2021, say that in the third quarter the high prices did not slow down energy consumption, which increased by 7% and neither emissions (+ 4%). In short, bills and fuel costs increase but the habits of unbridled use of household appliances and cars do not subside.

But how much have energy prices risen so far? Although the increases came only in part on the bills of end consumers, thanks to the exceptional sterilization measures decided by the Government, in the second half of the year “gas prices are more than 40% higher than in 2020 for domestic consumers and about 100% for businesses. In the case of electricity, prices are almost 50% higher for domestic consumers and over 50% for businesses, the highest for all consumer brackets ». These figures are always provided by the quarterly analysis of Enea.
