The growth in demand for diesel and above all petrol and on the contrary the very modest consumption of aviation kerosene make it clear that for the July holidays, Italians and foreign tourists arriving in Italy preferred to drive in medium-distance journeys and instead avoided travel long that require the use of the plane.
These are some of the data from the monthly report of the Ministry of Economic Development spread by unite , the Confindustria association of companies that refine and distribute petroleum derivatives.

In particular, UNEM notes, oil consumption in July amounted to 5.2 million tons, up by 7.9% (+ 381 thousand tons) compared to July 2020, with a recovery lower than expected.
Compared to July 2019 (when consumption exceeded 5.6 million tons), volumes are still 7.5% lower (422 thousand tons less), mainly due to the prolongation of the crisis in the consumption of aircraft fuels.
