The Salone del Mobile postponed to June. The format will be the traditional one

By now a fair that slips, after two years of pandemic, is no longer sclapore or news. Not even if that fair is the Salone del Mobile in Milan, one of the largest international events that our country hosts, which just today has made official a news that has been circulating for a few days, or the postponement of the 60th edition from early April to the beginning June, to be precise from 7 to 12.

An inevitable decision, given the impact of the fourth wave of Covid, which forced all neighborhoods and exhibition organizers to review the calendars for the first months of the year. Mostly, to date, postponements have only been announced for the events scheduled for January and February, many of which have been repositioned between March and April. But the Salone del Mobile is a case in itself: a gigantic machine, which requires months of preparation not only for the companies and operators in the furniture sector directly involved, but also for the large industries that move around the area: design studios, agencies. communication, hotels, restaurants, shops, logistics and catering services …

The decision had to be taken as soon as possible: it was too risky to keep the dates in April, with the risk of further limiting the arrival of international visitors (already reduced due to travel still banned by some countries, especially Asian). Too risky even to postpone everything to September, as it did last year, when the chosen date had above all a symbolic meaning, to mark the restart of the sector and the exhibition world.

So this morning the board of FederlegnoArredo Eventi (which organizes the show) decided on the choice of June, agreeing with Fiera Milano the dates that would meet both the needs of the exhibitors and the physical possibilities of the Rho Pero district.

“The decision to postpone the event will allow exhibitors, visitors, journalists and the entire international furniture and design community to make the most of an exhibition, which this year is full of novelties,” he said. commented Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile. At the center of the new edition, the theme of sustainability, to which the whole world of wood-furniture looks with great attention.
