Berlin (German news agency) – Although the EVG strike at Deutsche Bahn was called off, there were many delays and cancellations at the train stations in Germany on Sunday. The background to this is that rail operations are being reorganized from shutting down to raising within 24 hours, the railway said.
Since Saturday, around 50,000 long-distance and local train journeys alone as well as the associated shift and deployment plans have been rescheduled. Vehicles would have to be rescheduled and in some cases taken to new departure points. In addition, as a result of the announcement of the 50-hour warning strike, thousands of colleagues were initially taken out of the shift schedules – their assignments now have to be reorganized again at short notice, according to Deutsche Bahn. Restrictions for travelers could therefore not be avoided.
There could still be “individual train cancellations” on Sunday evening, and only around two-thirds of the planned trains should run on Monday. According to the company, all ICE and IC trains should not be on the road again as planned until Tuesday. Restrictions and cancellations of trains are also initially expected in regional DB traffic. Deutsche Bahn and the union accepted a settlement proposal from the Frankfurt district court on Saturday – the strike was thus averted.
The employees actually wanted to stop work for 50 hours at a time from Sunday evening at 10 p.m.
