UN agency: Global food prices have fallen significantly

The Rome-based agency stressed that the drop reflected lower prices for grains, vegetable oils and dairy products. That made up for the rise in sugar and meat prices. “While prices have fallen at the global level, they are still very high in domestic markets and continue to rise, posing an additional challenge to food security,” said FAO chief economist Maximo Torero. “This is especially true for developing countries that are net importers of food.”
