In May, the US ISM manufacturing index signaled another month of contraction, settling at 46.9 points. The sector showed worsening conditions, compared to 47.1 points in April.
Analyst expectations were for a reading of 47.0 points. For the index, it is the seventh consecutive contraction, the worst streak since 2009.
