Vinitaly is back in attendance with 4,400 exhibitors

Vinitaly, the international exhibition of wines and spirits of Veronafiere, is back in attendance and in its traditional formula, after two years of stoppage due to the pandemic, which for its 54th edition, from 10 to 13 April simultaneously with Sol & Agrifood and Enolitech, sold out. In 17 halls, 4,400 companies from 19 countries, and over 17,000 labels included in the VinitalyPlus business platform, will present their products to an international clientele of professionals and enthusiasts.

700 foreign buyers have been selected, arriving from 50 countries, thanks to the “incoming” initiatives promoted by Veronafiere in collaboration with the Ice Agency, in addition to 50 operators profiled in demand at their debut in Verona, thanks to a new project carried out by the fair in collaboration with about 30 Vinitaly exhibiting companies. The largest delegation arrives from the United States, with over 130 top operators.

To inaugurate the event, which has over 30 conferences and 76 tastings, the Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Stefano Patuanelli, also present at other events during the day. Wine lovers are also expected at the “Vinitaly and the city” fuorisalone, scheduled until 11 April with a schedule of events and tastings in the streets of the center of Verona.

The fair is an opportunity to take stock of the sector and the prospects of the international market, also in light of the consequences deriving from the war in Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia. According to Coldiretti estimates, based on Istat data, 2021 was a record year for Italian wine exports, which increased by 12% in value, to 7.1 billion euros, under the pressure of the reopening of international catering. . However, producers are concerned about bottle shortages and the impact of the war on international trade.
