VW seals the demise of the Russian car market

EKaluga was once considered the Detroit of Russia. Since the beginning of the Ukraine war, one western carmaker after another has shut down production here and in other Russian regions – including Volkswagen. The Russian car market was once the eighth largest in the world, but now it has collapsed. Without China’s help, Russia would be completely helpless. The Russian auto sector is now showing what happens when sanctions actually work.
