Some queued for 4 hours to charge up, and some went to the scene according to the APP guidance but found that the charging pile could not be used

Why are more than 10,000 high-speed service areas charging piles difficult to solve?

The number of charging piles in the high-speed service area has reached 10,836, but the “11” holiday is still “hard to find.” Experts in this regard said that on the one hand, the construction of charging piles should be increased, and on the other hand, they should be avoided and ignored. A comprehensive “physical examination” should be performed on the charging pile before the holiday. At the same time, the use of battery swap mode is also an idea to solve the problem of charging difficulties.

Queuing for 4 hours to charge for 1 hour, traffic jams dare not turn on the air conditioner… During the “11” holiday period, new energy vehicles are frequently searched for due to charging problems.

In recent years, under the vigorous promotion of national policies, the new energy vehicle industry has developed rapidly, but the problem of charging difficulties still plagues the majority of new energy vehicle owners.

“One is hard to find” in the high-speed service area

On October 1, the experience of a new energy car owner queuing for 4 hours to charge for 1 hour was widely concerned.

It is reported that this new energy vehicle owner who returned from Shenzhen to Hunan checked the navigation and found that there was no traffic jam on the road, so he temporarily decided to return from Shenzhen to his hometown in Hunan. He could be there in 8 hours, but because of the need to charge the car, the time has doubled.

The car owner said: “The journey is relatively smooth. When you get to the Leiyang service area, you have to charge. As a result, there are more than 20 cars in the line at the charging station. I estimate that it will be at least 3 hours in line, so I persuaded many cars behind to leave.”

In addition, a new energy car owner in Guangdong did not dare to turn on the air conditioner when encountering a high-speed traffic jam, and two car owners fought to grab charging piles in the high-speed service area, and other news, also blasted social media.

Relevant experts pointed out that many charging piles in high-speed service areas during the “Eleventh” holiday are “difficult to find” because the development of new energy vehicles in my country is too fast and the construction speed of charging piles has not kept up.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Transport before the “Eleventh” period, the number of charging piles in the high-speed service area has reached 10,836, and the number of charging pile service areas has reached 2,318. According to this calculation, the average number of service areas equipped with charging piles does not exceed 5. The data shows that as of September this year, my country’s new energy vehicle ownership is 6.78 million. During holidays, many new energy car owners drive on high speeds, and it is difficult to avoid charging problems in the service area.

The broken pile was not repaired in time

In addition to the number of vehicles and fewer piles, a reporter from the Workers’ Daily found during actual experience that some charging piles in high-speed service areas still have problems such as equipment failures that are not repaired in time, and broken piles are not reminded on the APP.

On October 1, the reporter found in the Luanxian, Lulong, and Beidaihe service areas of the Beijing-Harbin Expressway that the charging piles in the three service areas had equipment failures that were not repaired in time. When it was 1km away from the Lulong service area, the reporter saw that there were two idle piles displayed on the e-charging app, but when the reporter arrived, he found that one of the four charging piles was broken, and the other three were charging. There are no idle piles. This has caused some new energy vehicle owners to wait a long time for charging.

“The country is now vigorously developing new energy vehicles. If the infrastructure cannot keep up, it will affect the development of the industry. Although there are more charging piles in the high-speed service area than before, they still cannot meet the demand, and some piles are broken and not in time. Maintenance. What’s more disturbing is that the pile is broken and there is no reminder on the e-charging APP, which makes it impossible to charge and can only queue up. I waited here for more than an hour to recharge.” In the Beijing-Harbin Expressway Beidaihe Service Area, Beijing Mr. Liu, the owner of a new energy vehicle, told reporters that he had to drive more than 700 kilometers from Beijing to his hometown of Shenyang, and he had to charge twice on the way.

In addition, on October 5, the reporter saw on the e-charging app that there were 4 charging piles in the Qinglong East service area of Chengqin Expressway, but after the reporter arrived, they found that all 4 piles were in a state of “equipment maintenance and suspension of use”.

“Actually, there are very few people charging in the Qinglong East Service Area. If the piles here can be used, I don’t need to go to the Beidaihe Service Area to recharge. This will relieve the charging pressure over there.” New energy owner Ms. Chu said The reporter said.

Changing electricity is also an idea

Experts said that to solve the problem of charging for new energy vehicles, on the one hand, it is necessary to make a fuss about the increase in the construction of charging piles. If there are more piles, the charging queue problem can naturally be alleviated. On the other hand, it is necessary to revitalize the stock, and to manage and maintain the existing charging piles. Especially during the holidays, the demand for charging piles in the high-speed service area is large. Therefore, the service area and charging pile managers should give them in advance before the holiday. All charging piles undergo a comprehensive “physical examination”.

The reporter noticed that recently, relevant enterprises in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, conducted “physical examinations” on charging piles in high-speed service areas on the eve of the National Day to ensure convenient travel during festivals. At the same time, during the holidays, special personnel are also arranged to increase the frequency of inspections of the charging and swapping power station facilities, pay close attention to the operation of the equipment, and respond to customers’ electricity needs in a timely manner to provide reliable power guarantee for low-carbon travel during holidays.

In addition, Zhu Wei, deputy director of the Communication Law Research Center of China University of Political Science and Law, pointed out that the use of power exchange mode is another way to solve the difficulty of charging. He believes that business ideas should be changed, and if rechargeable batteries can be updated to become a unified standard rechargeable battery, they can be replaced immediately.

Mr. Li, the owner of a new energy vehicle in Beijing, told reporters: “Whether a new energy vehicle is good or not depends on the infrastructure. My car can be replaced in a power station, which can be replaced in a few minutes. The more you come, you don’t have to worry about not having enough mileage to travel long distances.”

The reporter noticed that on September 29, a new energy vehicle company announced that the company had built 504 replacement stations, 365 overcharging stations, and 526 destination charging stations across the country. In the next fourth quarter, we will continue to deploy to achieve the goal of accumulating 700+ power replacement stations by the end of the year, and build a high-speed power replacement network layout of “five verticals, three horizontals and four metropolitan areas” before the Spring Festival of 2022.
