The prosperity that France and Germany enjoy today is largely due to their close partnership over the past 70 years. In order to maintain their economic growth and maintain their global influence, both countries must continue to work closely together and make every effort to strengthen the European Union. But faced with strong opposition from Germany, Macron appears to have given up on his ambitions to reform Europe. This is a mistake. It is now important to strengthen the internal market, complete the banking union, continue the capital markets union, develop a common industrial policy and reduce regulation and bureaucracy. It’s about designing an economic and industrial policy that embodies our European values and goals.
