The talented Serbian footballer Matija Popović arrived in Milan on Tuesday and it seemed that he no longer had any doubts that he would wear the Rossoneri jersey, but there is still no agreement. According to media reports from Italy, Milan is even considering withdrawing completely from the talks surrounding Popović after hearing what his agents were looking for.
The problem is the commission that the agents are asking for Popović’s signature, since he is coming as a free agent, after his contract with Partizan expired this summer. Popović and his representatives, as well as his parents, were not satisfied with what Partizan offered and they knew that there would be interest from abroad for the young footballer as soon as he became of age, which was two days ago, but it seems that they set the conditions that Milan they don’t want to hear.
“Their request is far greater than they expected in Milan, so now the whole business is on ‘standby’ and the right solution is being sought”Italian media report and recall that previously Popović rejected Manchester City’s offer, as he had promised Milan that he would sign for them even before he came of age.
By the way, Milan wanted Popović so much that they were ready to “sacrifice” one foreigner’s place in the team for him, and it was agreed that he would spend the first six months in the youth team with Ignjaci Abate, while he would join Stefan Pioli’s seniors from the summer. Two Serbian players are currently playing in Milan – Luka Jović and Jan-Karlo Simić – while Marko Lazetić is on loan.
