The 135th Canton Fair has come to a successful close in Guangzhou, with a record-breaking number of overseas purchasers in attendance. A total of 246,000 buyers from 215 countries and regions participated in the offline event, marking a 24.5% increase from the previous session.
The fair saw an impressive total export turnover of US$24.7 billion offline, with an additional US$3.03 billion generated through the online platform. This represents a 10.7% and 33.1% increase respectively from the previous session. Notably, transactions with countries involved in the “Belt and Road” initiative reached US$13.86 billion, a 13% increase from before.
Following the conclusion of the offline exhibition, the online platform will continue to operate regularly, offering a series of trade docking and industry-themed activities online. The 136th Canton Fair is scheduled to take place in Guangzhou in three phases from October 15th to November 4th this year.
The success of the 135th Canton Fair highlights the resilience and adaptability of the global trade industry in the face of challenges. With a strong showing from overseas purchasers and increased export turnover, the fair sets a positive tone for future trade events.
