A police officer from the City of Buenos Aires killed a 14-year-old alleged criminal and injured another 19-year-old when they intercepted him in an attempted robbery in the Buenos Aires town of Isidro Casanova, La Matanza district. The cash was detained accused of exceeding the legitimate amount.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at the intersection of Alicante and Camino de Cintura streets, in the aforementioned town in the La Matanza district.

The officer was in civilian clothes returning home when he was intercepted by two alleged criminals who were traveling on a Honda Wave motorcycle. One of them is believed to have had a knife while the other made gestures of possessing a firearm.

When approaching the 21-year-old police officer, he identified himself as a member of a security force, took out his 9 millimeter Pietro Beretta service weapon and shot at the suspects.

As a result of the shooting, one of the accused, a 14-year-old teenager, died at the scene while his partner, 19, was taken with gunshot wounds to the Paroissien Hospital, in Isidro Casanova.

The teenager was shot in the chest, once in the foot and another in the back, while the young man who was with him was shot in one of his feet.

Personnel from the 7th Police Station intervened. of Los Pinos, who detained the officer after the request of prosecutor Carlos Arriba, of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) Thematic Homicide of La Matanza.

The officer, who works at the Neighborhood Police Station 12C in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Urquiza, testified before prosecutor Arribas, who after the investigation ordered his formal arrest for the crime of “excess in legitimate defense.”

“He gave his version of the events. He said that they wanted to rob him and one of them made a movement as if to take out a firearm and that for that reason he shot,” an investigator told Télam.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old remains hospitalized waiting to be investigated for the crime of “attempted robbery,” sources indicated.
