The world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli enchanted the Dominican capital with a spectacular concert last night, accompanied by the Santo Domingo Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Carlos Bernini.
The Olympic Stadium was filled with music lovers not only from Santo Domingo but also from various parts of the Dominican Republic and neighboring countries. Dressed elegantly in a tuxedo, Bocelli took the stage after the Philharmonic’s performance of ‘L’arlesienne’ by Georges Bizet, starting off with the classic ‘La donna è mobile’ from ‘Rigoletto’ by Giuseppe Verdi.
The concert was divided into two parts, with the first focusing on opera and operetta, with Cuban soprano María Aleida joining Bocelli on some songs. The second part featured more popular songs in Spanish and Italian, with Carolina Rial and Matteo Bocelli, Bocelli’s son, also joining him on stage.
The audience was captivated by Bocelli’s powerful and emotional voice, with many attendees praising his performance as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The concert was a true showcase of musical talent and brought a touch of elegance to the Dominican capital.
