“Argyle: The Secret Agent” Takes Top Spot at North American Box Office

The thriller action film “Argylle” directed by Matthew Vaughn debuted at the top of the North American box office this past weekend, despite receiving mixed reviews.

According to box office statistics website BoxOfficeMojo, “Argylle” grossed approximately US$18 million during its opening weekend, bringing its total box office revenue to around US$35.3 million. The film currently holds an IMDb score of 6.1, MTC score of 36, Rotten Tomatoes freshness rating of 35% based on 213 reviews, and a CinemaScore rating of C+.

Following closely behind “Argylle” was “The Beekeeper” starring Jason Statham, which raked in approximately US$5.29 million over the weekend and has generated a total box office revenue of around US$49.43 million in North America.

Meanwhile, “Wonka” starring Timothée Chalamet ranked fourth, earning approximately US$4.77 million over the weekend. The film has amassed over US$200 million in North America and a total box office revenue of about US$572 million.

In fifth place was the animated film “Migration,” which brought in approximately US$4.11 million over the weekend and has a cumulative box office revenue of roughly US$106 million in North America.

Despite its initial success, the new adaptation of “Mean Girls” experienced a decline in the box office rankings, falling to sixth place with around US$4 million in revenue. The film’s North American box office total now stands at approximately US$66.39 million, with a total revenue of around US$92.69 million.

Additionally, two films nominated for Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards also held spots in the top ten at the North American box office. “American Fiction” ranked eighth with a weekend box office revenue of approximately US$2.3 million, while “Poor Things” secured the ninth spot with around US$2.13 million in revenue.

Looking ahead, moviegoers can anticipate the release of new films “Lisa Frankenstein,” “Float,” and “Skin Deep” on February 9th.
