“Between rays and stars we put critics and gallery owners at the center”

by admin

Roberto Casiraghi is the director of The Others and anticipates some of the themes of the event, now in its tenth edition, after the stop last year.

CWhat will this edition be like?

«We will host 56 Italian and foreign galleries that work with young people and emerging ones. And the first novelty is the radial arrangement: imagine a star where at the center there is a web TV in which gallery owners, collectors, curators and art critics are interviewed live. From the center of the star there are 8 rays on which the stands of the galleries are positioned, some of which have brought an ad hoc project. Another novelty is the presence of 5 international curators under 30 winners of a contest who will present their projects for the management of as many exhibition spaces ».

And the DJs will animate the evening ..

«Yes, in the garden outside Pavilion 3, music will accompany the public of the fair, and it will also be possible to dine, have lunch and have an aperitif thanks to the food trucks. The festival closes at 11 pm, an idea originally born to allow the public to see all the other fairs and finish the evening with us ».

Will you be staying in Hall 3 again next year?

“The management of the 4 thousand square meters, abandoned for years, is ours in November with The Others and in May with The Phair until 2021. But there is the option as well as the hope of reaching 2023, and we have the ambition to organize here The Phair 20 to 22 May 2022 ».

Why did you also involve some festivals?

«The Fringe, the Share Festival, the Graphic Days, the Festival delle Colline Torinesi and Bellissimo per Torino Stratosferica will have about twenty meters each of the walls of Pavilion 3 at their disposal. The initiative is dedicated to collaboration: we want to network with cultural realities ».

Is there a network between contemporary art fairs?

«Ilaria Bonacossa told the press that she does not send shuttles to other fairs for reasons of competition. In my opinion, culture is made by including: why not take Art Basel as a model? The mother of all the fairs is an example to see the importance of the network: they make a program that includes everything that happens in Basel. I believe that something similar should also be done in Turin ». cr. ins.
