BRIDGE CITY SINNERS – Düstere Single & Video

Portland’s dark Americana band BRIDGE CITY SINNERS have released their new single “Doubt” on all digital channels on May 10th, 2024. The album “In The Age Of Doubt’” will be released on July 12th. To be released in 2024 via Flail Records and SBÄM Records.

In a time dominated by uncertainty, In the Age of Doubt explores the eternal tug-of-war between deciding what is right and what is wrong and the endless pursuit of self-acceptance. In an effort to fully utilize our abilities as musicians and songwriters, Unholy Hymns follows the sonic lineage of Unholy Hymns, combining our folk ethos and instrumentation with our penchant for heavier, alternative musical styles. Both albums are set in the same fictional, hedonistic, post-apocalyptic world that is on the verge of collapse. In the midst of conflict and chaos, we explore themes such as self-reflection, uncertainty, separation and escapism. We could all use a break from the world, sometimes even from ourselves. These songs are an antidote to this harsh reality, a statement of solidarity with those who struggle with doubt in their own lives. There is a tension and release between introspection and indulgence, and taking on the weight of the world all alone is too much. Ultimately, it’s about the long journey and the connections we make along the way. The single “Doubt” was released on May 10th.

“I spent a lot of time in my own head. Sometimes when I’m there, I make myself comfortable there. I clean up and spend time taking care of this place. Other times I’m an unwelcome guest and destroy everything I can get my hands on. Doubt is about the inner struggle and being your own worst enemy. It is an exhortation not to give in to passing thoughts of self-harm and self-hatred, but instead to move forward toward a happy heart, body and mind.” – Libby Lux, lead singer of Bridge City Sinner

The first single “Break The Chain” was released on March 22nd. Break the Chain” is a song about finding hope in times of uncertainty. As you get older, you feel like the world is less black and white and instead an endless sea of gray. This is where the first two lines of the chorus come from. There are so many forks in the road in a person’s life, and it is difficult to know if the path you are on is the right one. We’ve all made bad decisions in the past, there are things we’re ashamed of, and it’s impossible to know how things would be different if you had simply taken the other path. The only real constant is change, and accepting that the future will always be uncertain makes the world less scary to me. Set in a world of conflict, Break the Chain refers to both ending cyclical violence and ending the inner turmoil of self-doubt. -Michael Sinner
