It is in this climate that the newest episode of Connectarch Cast took place, the podcast produced by the Decortiles brand relationship program.
Connectarch brought together this trio who have known each other for a long time, share tastes and desires and have no filters when it comes to defending the profession and, especially, women in the profession.
Architecture, design, craftsmanship and curation were the main themes, but from them what the three guests brought was experience and sensitivity in “looking again”. Another characteristic they have in common is the ability to see potential in what many see as banal – even trash. Reframing is the watchword!
Decortiles + Carol Gay in 2024
Giving new meaning to things and what you see is what guides Carol Gay’s creations. Driven by the streets of São Paulo and inspired by Brazilian nature, she signed the special co-creation for Decortiles in 2024. The touch of glass – the designer’s trademark –, the many urban and everyday elements, the natural palette that Brazilian flora offers… everything this contributed to the co-creation being launched this year.
“The idea was to bring the concepts that I have already been working on in my pieces, so they are the main references of this collection: taking the last pieces I made or the initial one, the Bola, the Lasca chair, the NoAr armchair…”, he says Carol.
And about the source of inspiration: “We live in the city, but we are surrounded by nature, so it’s a constant search. There is the issue of breathing in nature while being in the middle of the chaos of the city”, he says.
