Hangzhou Daily reported that village cadres became “pop singers” and sang “Ginger Toast”; young people who returned to their hometowns to start businesses transformed into flower fairies and danced on the water; old plasterers put on bamboo hats and showed off the tricks of fishermen casting nets to catch fish… This On May Day, the large-scale waterscape ecological performance “Where Dreams Begin” carefully created by Xiajiang Village in Chun’an County premiered and won applause from the audience.

The entire performance was performed by 48 villagers, including original ecological performance art, situational original antiphonal singing, women’s dance, water and land music festival, song and dance performances and other forms of performance. The performance team integrated original ecological rural life with modern artistic expression methods, integrating the real landscape of Xiajiang Village with various types of program content, creating an immersive performance that integrates performing arts, light and shadow art, and visual art in a landscape, giving the audience a visual, audible, and participatory experience. The new acting experience has given Xiajiang Village new vitality and charm.

It is reported that as long as the weather permits, “Where Dreams Begin” will be performed every weekend and holiday in the future. The performance lasts 40 minutes and starts at 7:30 p.m. Currently, Xiajiangcun has received multiple reservations for special performances.
