Don’t leave that scooter on the ground

by admin

ROME – Two news are coming from Bird, a global micro-mobility company in sharing. The first is called “Please get me up!”, And it is a project aimed at keeping the streets more orderly. This writing, translated into Italian, French, Hebrew and Swedish, was printed on the lower part of the skirting board of the Bird scooters to convey a simple but effective message: to entice users to behave correctly as much as possible. However, since not everyone can pick up an overturned scooter, the company has developed a special reporting tool: the Community Mode. It is located in the opening screen of the Bird application and creates a link between the public (riders and non-riders) and the company’s support team. Community members who notice a badly parked or damaged Bird vehicle can then report it easily via the app.

The second novelty is represented by the Community Safety Zones. Bird scooters that cross these areas will automatically reduce the permitted speed to 13 km / h, communicating the reason for this slowdown via a message on the app to those who are driving the scooter. For the time being, Community Safety Zones will be tested in Miami, Marseille and Madrid, but will soon extend to Bird’s other 250 partner cities. “Micromobility is an evolving industry,” explains Jenn Fox of Vision Zero Network. “As cities work to integrate this popular mode of personal transportation, every safety feature should be used.” (fp)
