In Tadó the tenth version of the Jotatón is being held this weekend, an event that has the participation of more than 30 groups and 400 dancers and that each year consolidates itself as a festival full of culture and a lot of dance.
For three days, from April 26 to 28, Tadó dances to the rhythm of the jota, a dance originally from Spain, which has become a cultural example of the department,
Beatriz Garcés, director of the La Platina group, explains that the jota is a dance where a minimum of four people participate and that stands out for the greeting, the turns, clapping, hugs and flirting between couples. To the rhythm of the shawm, the women move their hips, and the men with their hats perform mischievous acts to attract the woman’s attention.
