The actress and former beauty queen, Jackie Loughery, has passed away at the age of 93, as confirmed by the Miss Universe organization. Loughery, who was the first Miss United States and the first participant from that country in Miss Universe, was also a model and made history in the pageant community.
“We regret to report that Jackie Loughery, the first Miss United States, has passed away. Jackie Loughery will be remembered as a woman who made history as the first Miss USA to compete in the first Miss Universe competition and a pioneer in the pageant community. May you rest in power and peace,” read Miss Universe’s statement on social media.
After representing her country at Miss Universe, Loughery went on to make several films. She will be fondly remembered for her contributions to the pageant world and beyond.
