A young man, 18 years old, died and another, 19, suffered serious injuries tThey fell from the 12th floor into an internal courtyard when they were trying to escape a fire in a building in the Nueva Córdoba neighborhood in the capital of Córdoba.
The fire originated in apartment A on the 12th floor of a building located at 400 Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue, where three students from the province of Jujuy resided.
The young man who died was identified as Tiziano Tejerina, 18 years old, who settled in the capital of Córdoba a month ago to apparently study Medicine at the National University of Córdoba (UNC).
Gustavo Matus, from the Emergency Hospital, said that the injured young man, identified as Sebastián Diquín (19), entered that medical center with serious burns and fractures.
“Resuscitation maneuvers were performed. We left the operating room and now he is in shock room, with a reserved prognosis,” he told Chain 3.

Tragedy
Inspector Commissioner Sergio Cravero said that they were alerted around 4:45 this Thursday. “Upon the arrival of the four teams, police personnel were already there and 35 people had self-evacuated,” he added.
“Firefighters evacuated the rest of the people who were on the stairs. It is a residence where there are families and students, most of them are students. It should be noted that our staff quickly extinguished a widespread fire with total damage to the 12th floor, department A,” he said in statements to Miter Córdoba.
He also stated that “3 young people, aged 18 and 19, students, from Jujuy, resided in the apartment.”
Fire
“Because of the smoke they cannot leave through the door and decide to go out through the window. Two fall out of the window into an internal patio, we are talking about 12 floors, of which the death of one must be mourned and the other is assisted and transferred to the Emergency Hospital.”Cravero confirmed.
When asked if the young people jumped or tried to go to another apartment, the police authority responded: “The third of them says that they wanted to safeguard life through the window, it has a small ledge, of which two fall to what It is the internal patio, we are talking about 12 floors.”

Cravero assured that the outbreak was “only widespread in the apartment where the three young people lived” and that when they arrived at the scene they were rescued. “to the third young man who was on the 11th floor, in the window below, practically hanging”.
Investigation
Judicial sources indicated University Radio that the fire would have originated in the kitchen presumably due to a gas leak since an explosion would have been heard prior to the fire.
