Flowers, festivals and picnics: spring at high altitude is “Flower Power”

Spring is coming and it is the triumph of flowers, perfumes, colors. In the mountains it is even more beautiful: there are many opportunities to admire and savor these beauties. In Trentino there are even ad hoc itineraries to discover during this season. Like the “Trekking of the mountain huts and flowers of Baldo”, above Lake Garda: a route designed to make known, through forms of conscious and sustainable tourism, the biodiversity and nature heritage of this Park. In Val di Non and Val di Sole there is a rich program of events and initiatives: until May 1st, “April sweet bloom” offers gastronomic walks and thematic picnics with recipes based on seasonal flowers and herbs. In South Tyrol the triumph of flowers is also celebrated with parties and festivals. In Bolzano until May 1st

The second edition of “Bolzano In Fiore Arte / Kunstgarten Bozen” is staged: an exhibition that for 10 days invites you to rediscover the most beautiful corners of the South Tyrolean capital through paths between nature and art, culture and tradition. Last weekend the spotlight will be on the traditional “Flower Festival” in Piazza Walther: a historic event that turns 131 and transforms the city into an immense botanical garden with a thousand colors. There are many flower growers who, in addition to exhibiting beautiful flowers and ornamental plants, are available to all visitors for advice on how to take care of their garden or balcony.

Restaurants also adapt for the occasion: the chefs will offer gourmet dishes where the ingredients are mainly fresh aromatic herbs and edible flowers.

Proteins, tillandsias, cacti, orchids, tropical plants are the protagonists instead of the “Merano Flower Festival” which from 22 to 25 April transforms the South Tyrolean town into a tropical village where flora triumphs: along the Passirio river you can discover plants from all over the world.
