ROME – Ford has announced that by mid-2026, 100 percent of its passenger vehicle range in Europe will be zero-emission, fully electric or plug-in hybrid, switching to all-electric by 2030. Also, from the end of 2022 its engine plant in Valencia, Spain, will build the 2.5-liter Duratec hybrid engine for Europe, which powers the Kuga Phev and the Kuga, Galaxy and S-Max Full Hybrid models. Ford also confirmed an additional € 5.2 million to support increased battery pack assembly capacity in Valencia.
The 2.5-liter Duratec hybrid engine – which is currently built at Ford’s Chihuahua plant in Mexico – will be produced in Valencia alongside the 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter EcoBoost petrol engines. Ford also announced that it will phase out the Mondeo, its big car, at the end of March next year.
