Former T-ARA Member Lee Ah-reum Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt, Plans to Sue YouTuber for False Accusations
On the morning of March 27th, Lee Ah-reum, a former member of the popular Korean girl group T-ARA, was sent to the hospital after attempting suicide. Reports from both media outlets and Ah-reum’s boyfriend stated that she had lost consciousness. However, journalist-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin Ho later claimed that Ah-reum’s boyfriend, named Seo, had borrowed money from netizens under false pretenses.
Ah-reum, who had married an entrepreneur in 2019 and announced her intentions to divorce last year, cited domestic violence as the reason behind the dissolution of her marriage. She also claimed that her two children had been abused by their biological father and that she had been the target of harassment and scams from netizens. Additionally, Ah-reum stated that someone had been using her name to defraud money.
Lee Jin Ho, in a video posted on his YouTube channel, revealed private messages between netizens and Seo, who claimed that Ah-reum needed financial assistance for medical expenses as she was pregnant and hospitalized. When pressed for confirmation, Seo admitted that he had indeed borrowed money from Ah-reum’s followers on Instagram.
In response to these accusations, Ah-reum regained consciousness on the 28th and announced her intention to file a complaint against Lee Jin Ho. She took to her own YouTube account to refute the claims made by the YouTuber, stating that she had previously sued her ex-husband for child abuse and that she would not tolerate false accusations being spread about her.
Lee Jin Ho, in turn, defended his actions and maintained that the information he had shared was based on facts and confirmed by Seo himself. He also expressed concerns about Ah-reum’s decision to file a complaint rather than take the matter to the police for a speedier resolution.
