Gender equality is not a utopia at the Italian post office in the province of Imperia. Of the four distribution centers in the area, two are managed by women.
The Group has been included for the third consecutive year in the Bloomberg Gender – Equality Index which evaluates corporate initiatives for equality and inclusion.
Poste Italiane is also confirmed in 2022 as a female company, capable of promoting issues of gender equality and professional growth within the company. This year too, diversity within the Group is well represented and in the Imperia province 67% of the 89 post offices are led by a director while 40 are fully manned by female staff. There is also a large presence of women in the mail and parcel distribution sector.
Arianna Mancuso, born in Sanremo in 1984 and graduated, has been with the Italian Post Office since 2010; you first you postman then you Foreman, today you are assigned to the role of Head of the new Ventimiglia 2 Distribution Center, inaugurated in October 2021 in the industrial area of Camporosso, following the merger of the Centers of Ventimiglia and Ospedaletti. Arianna coordinates the work of over 60 colleagues, including staff, internal processing workers and postmen, on 19 delivery areas between market and business, with processes ranging from 2000 to 3000 pieces per day. You say: “I feel a constant challenge in leading the largest distribution center in the Imperia area and the pride of being part of a company that is the first employer in Italy and attentive to inclusion and equality”.
Fulvia Barba, 50 years old and a graduate, has been with the Italian Post Office since 2004. She too, having started as a postman, is now assigned the role of Head of the Taggia Delivery Center in via del Piano snc. Fulvia coordinates the work of about 20 colleagues including staff, internal processing workers and postmen who take care of the delivery throughout the territory of the Argentina Valley, from Taggia to Triora, touching the villages of Badalucco, Montalto / Carpasio, Molini di Triora and finally Triora, to then pass on the Riviera with Arma, Riva Ligure, Santo Stefano al mare; the hinterland, with Pompeiana and Castellaro and finally Ceriana and Bajardo. Fulvia says: “Our goal is to deliver with efficiency, speed and kindness. In addition to ordinary mail and parcels, we process a daily average of about 500/600 pieces per day of signed items “.
Thanks to this important result achieved in the Imperia area, Poste Italiane’s gender equality policies and transparency have been rewarded with the reconfirmation, for the third consecutive year, in the Gender-Equality Index (Gei) 2022, the main international index reference that evaluates the quality of corporate initiatives for equality and inclusion.
The Gender-Equality Index measures corporate performance on gender equality and transparency policies in the reporting of sector data and information and represents a reference point for investors seeking reliable and comparable information in order to assess the commitment of society in the affirmation of gender equality values.
They comment from Poste Italiane: “The evaluation obtained is the result of the examination of five parameters: female leadership and the enhancement of talents, wage equality, inclusive culture, policies for the prevention and contrast of sexual harassment and recognition as a brand that promotes gender equality. 418 companies surveyed around the world, spread across 11 manufacturing sectors based in 45 countries and a combined market capitalization of USD 16 trillion. In the 2022 edition, Poste Italiane further improved its result compared to last year, once again obtaining an evaluation well above the average score of the companies evaluated in the Gei ”.
