Geraldine Calvella, the 23-year-old girl who was chosen by the Government to be in charge of the Directorate of Inspection of Documentation Centers of the National Registry of Persons (Renaper), will finally not occupy that position, sources from the Ministry of the Interior revealed.
“She left her position after the controversy that arose around her for not having completed previous university studies and charging almost three million pesos for her tasks in the registry,” published MDZ.
The news was confirmed by sources from the Ministry of the Interior to that medium, who explained that “she withdrew from her appointment” and that “she was never appointed.”
The controversy arose after the viralization of an alleged receipt from the woman through social networks, especially on X (exTwitter), where it appeared that Calvella received almost three million gross pesos. Government sources explained that they did not know if this receipt was real, but they did affirm that the position was “a simple management, with a remuneration similar to managements of the same rank and category, as established by the National Employment System (SINEP). with the increase agreed in February by state parity.”
Although Renaper confirmed a few weeks ago that the young woman was already in charge of the Inspection Directorate, the Interior explained this Monday that Calvella had “a provisional appointment but had never been officially appointed.”
Already on the day of the controversy, the Government had clarified: “She is not the general director of Renaper, the position held by Pablo Santos, she is an ordinary line director, it is a simple direction.” Now, and after the scandal, the young woman would have decided to back down on her appointment.
According to her LinkedIn account, Calvella’s only work experience is having been a “political advisor” in the Chamber of Deputies.
On the other hand, in the Official Gazette of this March 18, the designation to occupy the position of “National Director of Citizen Services” appears.
That the temporary coverage of the aforementioned position does not constitute the assignment of an extraordinary resource.
