Hayao Miyazaki’s much-anticipated new film, “What Kind of Life Do You Want to Live,” is set to be released in mainland China on April 3rd. The film, which marks Miyazaki’s return to directing after a 10-year hiatus, follows the story of a young man who embarks on a magical adventure after meeting a talking heron.
In addition to the film release, a Studio Ghibli Story immersive art exhibition is also set to take place in Shanghai starting from April 12th and running until October 31st, 2024. This exhibition will showcase beloved Studio Ghibli classics such as “Spirited Away,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” and “Howl’s Moving Castle,” providing fans with a unique and immersive experience.
The announcement of the film release and exhibition comes on the heels of a strategic cooperation between Alibaba Pictures and Studio Ghibli. The partnership, which was announced earlier this year, includes plans for collaboration on animated films and immersive exhibition development.
Fans of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki’s work can look forward to experiencing the magic of their favorite films in a whole new way at the upcoming exhibition, as well as enjoying Miyazaki’s latest masterpiece on the big screen. It’s an exciting time for fans of Japanese animation and a testament to the enduring popularity of Miyazaki’s work.
