Big hits from a big band: Deep Purple performed at the Wiener Stadthalle!

When I was a few minutes before the support’s appearance “mother’s cakeWhen I entered the town hall, many other visitors joined me. Everything was leisurely and the crowd was relaxed. Even with the support’s sound problems, there was no grumbling to be heard, on the contrary: there was even more applause as it continued. “Mother’s cake” really shortened the waiting time until the main attraction started.

At some point the rock legends from “deep purple“ the stage and opened their concert with a long instrumental solo. And the instruments remained in the foreground: the drum set was so huge that I could hardly see the drummer behind it. and the three different, multi-level keyboards amazed me.

I noticed that there was actually room to move around in the front standing area and no one was stumbling into me with a beer cup – I thought that was good. Nevertheless, the hall was full, because how often would you get the chance to see such veterans of music history on stage? The mood in the crowd was extremely good, especially when classics like “Sprace Truckin’” and “Smoke on the Water” played over the speakers. But the atmosphere on stage was also excellent: I was most impressed by the enthusiasm of the guitarist, who, despite his slightly older age, walked up and down the stage and seemed very happy while playing, which in turn made me happy.

There was a slight murmur when the five band members left the stage because: one song was still missing! The audience’s patience was rewarded because the first encore was the song “hush”. Now absolutely everyone present was in a happy mood. I was happy to have heard some of the greatest numbers in music history. The end of the concert wasn’t too late either, which I found very pleasant for a concert during the week.
