Mexican Entertainment Mourns After Iconic Theater Producer Tina Galindo Passes Away

The news of the sudden death of the theater producer at the age of 78, as a result of respiratory arrest, was confirmed by journalist Maria Luisa Valdés and the Teatro de los Insurgentes.

Tina Galindo, in addition to her brilliant career as a theater producer, was also known for her close relationship with the renowned actress and singer Daniela Romo, whose manager and beloved companion for more than 44 years.

Just a few months ago, in September 2023, Daniela Romo decided to open the doors of her privacy and talk about the relationship she shared with the producer. In a revealing interview, Romo shared the importance that Tina Galindo always had in her life, both professionally and personally:

“We have done everything in life together and she is a more than important being for me and I am with her, furthermore, with a gigantic admiration because she has strength and is a wonderful person, she does not give up in what she is doing.”

The connection between Tina Galindo and Daniela Romo blossomed in the artistic world, a meeting of two talented women that marked the beginning of a relationship that has endured for more than 44 years. It all began when Galindo assumed the role of manager of Romo’s artistic career, thus establishing a special bond that was maintained discreetly over time.

However, it was during one of the most challenging moments in Daniela Romo’s life, when she was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 51 and managed to overcome it after seven months of undergoing a series of chemotherapy, that the singer and actress decided to break the silence and publicly express the immense gratitude and affection he felt for Tina Galindo.

At the time, he shared, “She was by my side throughout my entire cancer journey, and has been my partner for 44 years, and this year we celebrate that lasting connection.”

Maintaining notable discretion regarding their close connection over the years, Daniela Romo always chose to express deep gratitude for Tina’s company in both good and difficult times, dismissing any hint of a romantic link.

Tina Galindo, a reference in theater in Mexico

Although Tina Galindo’s career in the world of Mexican theater began in 1972 with the play “The effect of gamma rays on marigolds”, her first steps in the artistic world were as an actress. In a revealing interview in 2019, she shared that when she started “I was completely down, I didn’t even know what I wanted, initially I aspired to be an actress. I took classes with Dimitrio Sarrás, who was a reference at that time and director of the soap opera Colorina, But I realized that it was not my calling.”

Furthermore, he said that he experimented with film and television, but it was in the theater where he found his true passion: “I was deeply attracted to theater and the dynamics of management, because that is where you make fascinating decisions.” These early experiences in her artistic career not only marked the course of her career, but also reveal the process of self-discovery that led her to stand out in the world of theater.

Since then he forged his path in the production of plays and musicals.

In 1994, Tina Galindo took a significant step in her career by joining Televiteatros and Promovisión Mexicana as director. Two years later, thanks to her vast theatrical experience and his contribution to her artistic development, she was promoted to vice president of Artistic and Musical Performances for Grupo Televisa. Her contribution lay not only in theater production, but also in recognizing the importance of theater for the development of actors.

Since 1999, he assumed the direction of the Teatro Insurgentes, and from 2000, he chaired the Board of Directors of the Mexican Society of Theater Producers AC

His legacy extends through the production of memorable works such as “Festen”, “Cabaret”, “Victor Victoria”, “The Sound of Music”, among others. Her contribution continued until her most recent production, “Hello Dolly!”
