Inspiring Love for Reading: Introducing “Yue Yue·Telling Master” – Zeng Tenghui Shares his Love for “Secret Garden”

Zhongshan Huachen Experimental Middle School’s primary campus has taken an innovative approach to encouraging students to read good books. In a specially planned “Yue Yue·Telling Master” column, students are given the opportunity to recommend and discuss their favorite books in hopes of inspiring their peers to read more.

One such student who recently participated in the “Yue Yue·Telling Master” column is Zeng Tenghui, a student at the primary campus. Tenghui was recommended to read the book “The Secret Garden” and was so inspired by it that he decided to share his thoughts on the book with his fellow students.

Tenghui’s love for reading was nurtured by his mother, Li Xia, who instilled in him a deep appreciation for books. Li Xia believes that books can help people develop wisdom, understand things, and become sharper and smarter. With this in mind, she has made a concerted effort to encourage Tenghui to read and develop a love for books.

One of the methods Li Xia used to foster Tenghui’s love for reading was through quality time spent together. Despite her limited weekend time, Li Xia would dedicate time to read with Tenghui and engage him in discussions about the books. She also took advantage of film and television adaptations of books to further inspire Tenghui’s interest in reading.

In addition to these efforts, Li Xia also arranged a study room for Tenghui at home, equipped with a desk and bookcases, and made frequent trips to bookstores and libraries to further encourage him to read.

The impact of Li Xia’s dedication and encouragement is evident in Tenghui’s diverse reading habits, ranging from “Journey to the West” to “The Secret Garden” and “Comics Psychology.” As Tenghui’s mother, Li Xia’s hope is that through reading, children will develop the habit of independent thinking and understand how to deal with others.

After reading “The Secret Garden,” Tenghui was moved by the book’s themes of friendship, positivity, and optimism. The story, which follows the character Mary’s discovery of a secret garden and the impact it has on her and those around her, taught Tenghui the preciousness of friendship and the importance of embracing a positive and optimistic mindset, even in the face of difficulties.

Tenghui’s thoughtful reflection on “The Secret Garden” serves as a testament to the power of literature to impact and inspire young minds. As Zhongshan Huachen Experimental Middle School continues to promote the “Yue Yue·Telling Master” column and opportunities for students to share their love for books, it’s clear that the passion for reading will continue to flourish among its students.
