Iran Castillo Shifts Career from Soap Operas to Children’s Entertainment
Famous for her roles in Televisa’s youth soap operas, Iran Castillo is now setting her sights on becoming a child star with her latest project called ‘The Castle of Iran’.
After appearing at the recent Juguetón Azteca event and participating in movies such as ‘Syncopation’ (Alan Gutiérrez, 2023) and ‘Everywhere’ (Pitipol Ybarra, 2023), Castillo made it clear that she is no longer interested in portraying violent and aggressive female characters. The actress, now 47 and a mother, expresses her desire to transition to family-friendly projects that align with her new image.
Her shift in career path has led her to focus on becoming a children’s singer and family entertainer, creating content for kids with the help of her husband, José Ramos, and her daughter, Irka. In November 2023, Iran launched her own channel, ‘The Castle of Iran’, where she writes and composes songs, produces skits, and performs puppetry. Her goal is to resonate with a young audience and make a name for herself as a children’s entertainer.
While this new endeavor marks a departure from her previous work in soap operas, where she gained fame starring in shows like ‘Pink Laces’, ‘High School Confidant’, ‘Lovely’, ‘Dreamers’, and ‘Class 406’, Castillo emphasizes that she is not closed to action and is determined to make a lasting impact in her new role.
As she embarks on this journey, Castillo faces competition from fellow performer Daniela Guzmán, daughter of Enrique Guzmán, who recently launched her concept ‘Mundo Lero Lero’, offering similar entertainment geared towards Mexican children. The two artists will be vying for the attention of the youth, hoping to become the next favorite among the country’s youngest audience.
Both Turkey-born Iran Castillo and Daniela Guzmán are keen on filling a market gap for original children’s content in Mexico and they are turning to social media platforms to reach their audience. Their shows and songs aimed at children are leaving it up to the kids to decide who will come out on top. This shift for Iran Castillo will showcase her talent and abilities to resonate with a new generation of viewers.
