Apple Set to Launch ‘Apple Vision Pro’ Mixed Reality Glasses and Headsets in the US

‘Apple Vision Pro’, the set of mixed reality glasses and headsets that offers virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) experiences to users, will hit the US market on February 2, Apple reported today in a statement. The product will be sold both in the company’s physical stores and in its online store, for now only in the United States, and can be purchased in advance starting January 19 for a starting price of $3,499.

Hours after the announcement, Apple shares rose 1.20%, in contrast to the poor results obtained last week, when two financial institutions lowered the attractiveness of their securities due to weak sales of their new iPhone.

The glasses and headphones will come out amid a revenue crunch for the company, whose sales fell for the fourth straight period in its latest fiscal quarter following a decline in sales in China amid an economic slowdown and increased business competition.

Apple Vision Pro will compete with other virtual reality offerings from rival companies such as Meta, which in the fall launched a mixed reality device called Meta Quest, similar to the one that the company with the bitten apple will sell.

‘Apple Vision Pro’ technology allows you to access applications by looking at them, touching them with your fingers, moving your wrist, or using a virtual keyboard to type, and also offers an immersive experience in which the user can place themselves within landscapes, video games, or films.

According to the company, users can also view full-scale photos and videos they have previously taken with their iPhone. On the other hand, in video calls made through Facetime and other applications, such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, the participants will appear life-size and the rest of the people involved in the call will be able to see their facial expressions and hand movements.

“Its revolutionary and magical user interface will redefine how we connect, create and explore,” said Tim Cook, CEO of the company, in the statement.
