Kate Winslet Opens Up About the Traumatic Experience of ‘Titanic’ in New Interview

It’s been nearly 25 years since the release of Titanic, and now at 48 years old, Kate Winslet is finally opening up about the traumatic experience of filming the iconic movie.

In a recent interview with fashion magazine Porter, Winslet reflected on how difficult it was to handle the massive fame that came with the success of Titanic. She admitted that she had felt pressured to conform to a certain image and struggled to cope with the constant media scrutiny.

Winslet also revealed that at the time, journalists criticized her for her post-Titanic film choices, causing her to feel overwhelmed by the sudden fame. “Getting famous was horrible,” Winslet said. “I felt like I had to be a certain way, or be a certain thing, and since the intrusion by the press was so powerful then, my life was quite unpleasant.”

The actress also spoke about how she felt too young and inexperienced to handle her newfound stardom, and even admitted that she was not ready to accept important roles in Hollywood. She noted, “I was still learning to act and felt like I wasn’t ready.”

Despite the difficulties she faced after Titanic, Winslet has since moved past the trauma and grown as a versatile actress, with over 70 projects to her name. She has also been candid about her close friendship with Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom she shared many memorable moments during the filming of Titanic.

Looking back on her experience, Winslet now carries her fame lightly and feels no regrets about any step in her career. She is set to appear in the upcoming HBO series, The Regime, and admits that she is in a good place, ready to take on whatever comes her way.
