Hangzhou, China – On the afternoon of April 19, the 12th Annual Spring Breeze Reading List Annual Awards Ceremony took place at the Zhejiang Library Zhijiang Library·Wenlan Theater. The prestigious event brought together writers, scholars, publishers, and reading enthusiasts from across the country to celebrate the achievements of the past year in simplified Chinese book publishing.

The theme of this year’s ceremony was “Spring Breeze with Faith”, highlighting the resilience and dedication of authors in the literary world. The Spring Breeze Reading List, now in its 12th year, featured renowned personalities such as Wang Meng, Mo Yan, Luo Weizhang, and many others who were recognized for their outstanding contributions.

The event saw the selection of 7 Chunfeng Lists and “66 Good Books” by 50 well-known publishing houses and institutions nationwide. A panel of judges, including Li Jingze, Alai, Bi Feiyu, and others, deliberated to choose the final winners of the major awards, reflecting the diversity and quality of contemporary Chinese literature.

Among the notable winners were “People’s Artist” Wang Meng, who at 90 years old, continues to inspire with his latest work “The Sky is Full of Clouds”. Mo Yan, the Nobel Prize-winning author, captivated audiences with his transformative piece “Crocodile”, which earned him the prestigious Spring Breeze Platinum Book Award.

In addition, writer Luo Weizhang and scholar Lin Xiaoying received the Silver Book Award in the fiction and non-fiction categories, respectively. Their works, “The World Trilogy” and “Children in the County”, shed light on the complexities of human nature and the challenges facing education in rural China.
