An investigation film on the life of Rosario Livatino will be broadcast live on Antenna Sicilia on Saturday 22 May at 9 pm and in rerun on Sunday 23 May at 10.30 pm. It is called “Sub Tutela Dei, il Giudice Beato” directed by Francesco Millonzi. The film runs along some tracks: the cinematic reconstruction of the life of Judge Rosario Livatino as a child, played by the little Carmelo Flavio Misuraca and as an adult, played by Fabrizio D’Amico who together with other actors manage to propose a fiction of great impact. The actors move into real environments where the judge lived: the paternal house in Canicattì, the churches where he went to pray every morning, the office at the court of Agrigento where he went every day, the stele built in his memory in place that was the sad scene of the deadly ambush on the Caltanissetta – Agrigento state road, the noble chapel in the Canicattì cemetery where Livatino rests; the reference to the news events and to the investigations that the judge was dealing with; the reconstruction based on the testimonies of those who had the good fortune to know him. We are talking about the prosecutors Nunzio Sarpietro, Vittorio Fontana, Michelangelo Patanè, Ottavio Sferlazza; Domenico Airoma of the Livatino Study Center in Rome; Cardinal Francesco Montenegro, Don Giuseppe Livatino, a distant relative of the judge; Antonello Piraneo director of the newspaper “La Sicilia”, the journalist of “La Sicilia” Fabio Russello, Rosaria Livatino cousin of the judge, Giuseppe Palilla (school friend), Gaetano Augello his teacher; Ugo Tomaselli President of the “Justice and Peace” association named after judges Livatino and Costa and Vittorio Fontana, former attorney general of the Court of Cassation and honorary president.

The duration of the film which is a tribute to the beatification of Livatino is 60 minutes and contains a series of interviews, including the one with Don Giuseppe Livatino postulator of the cause of beatification. Also inside there is a small report dedicated to the judge Antonino Saetta killed by the mafia on 25 September 1988 who lives again in the memory of his son Roberto Saetta.

The film was conceived, written and produced by Francesco Millonzi, production secretary Lea Bilello, assistant director Fabrizio D’Amico who, together with director Millonzi, oversaw the editing.

Filming took place in Canicattì, Agrigento, Catania and Palermo. The official partners are the “Justice and Peace” association of which Ugo Tomaselli is president and the newspaper La Sicilia.

Great satisfaction on the part of the director Millonzi: «That of Livatino is testimony of courage, dedication and respect for legality and justice in having challenged and opposed organized crime and the mafia. He carried out his inquiries without fear. His sacrifice must serve to awaken consciences and to reflect on the values of respect, non-violence and legality. A warning to young people so that they too may take an example from him and fight for the triumph of justice and human and Christian values. We can all strive for good, direct our lives towards actions that improve our civil society. We are proud and proud to have had a judge like Rosario Livatino, a seed that sprouted and gave life to other fruits which, following his example, sowed other seeds of freedom and justice ”.

«Our Sicily – said Ugo Tomasdelli – was the birthplace of the first magistrate raised to beatitude in the history of the Church, a person who applied the Gospel in his life and lived it to the point of extreme sacrifice. A true martyr for the cause of justice and faith. Her sanctity comes from her sense of duty, from the search for truth and in this documentary the director has managed to make a complete and meaningful portrait of her that will surely excite the audience ».

And speaking of emotion, little Carmelo Flavio Misuraca could not miss, in the role of judge Livatino as a child: «It was nice for me to be a judge when I was little. I got excited. I think Rosario Livatino was very good and brave. I studied the part I was supposed to play, helped by my mother. I like acting, but I do it as a hobby. When I grow up I don’t want to be an actor, but a firefighter ».
