Lorenzo Antonio debunks long-standing urban legend about being a politician

During his recent visit to Mexico, he took the opportunity to put an end to an urban legend that had been circulating for more than two decades – the myth that he was once a politician.
Speaking to the press outside the Televisa facilities after appearing on the program Hoy, Lorenzo Antonio laughed off the rumors and clarified that he had never entered into politics. He stated, “It’s a rumor that I don’t know where it came from. Sometimes I’ve been asked about it, sometimes not. It was in the nineties, right? It wasn’t me.”
The misconception about Lorenzo Antonio’s political career stemmed from confusion with another singer, Francisco Xavier, who did transition into politics in the mid-nineties. Despite the association between their names and images, Lorenzo Antonio focused on his music career and never pursued politics.
The singer-songwriter, known for hits like “Doce Rosas,” continues to be active in the music industry, both as a solo artist and with his group Sparx.
