The scaffolding “packs up” the Baptistery of San Pietro: the renovations will last at least a year. They are included in the list of the «Wine and Culture» plan, a 12 million euro project.
Of these, 130 thousand are invested in the complex of San Pietro, where the roof will be rebuilt with recovery of the ancient tiles, interventions on the exposed masonry, recovery of friezes and tiles, securing the sandstone base literally “eaten by pigeons” .
Interventions are also planned on the sleeve in the courtyard. Then the preparation of the Museum of the Rotonde of the Holy Sepulcher: it will be financed with around 81 thousand euros, by networking the Baptistery with other monumental complexes.
The Baptistery recovery project is signed by the architect Roberto Nivolo, with the advice of his colleague Sonia Bigando. To take stock of the works, the mayor Rasero with the commissioner Gianfranco Imerito (Culture), with the manager Paolo Carantoni (Public works) and Cristina Cirio, the architect responsible for the “Wine and Culture” project (together with the architect Simona Amisano and Anna De Grandis).
As explained by the architect Cirio, the works at Palazzo Ottolenghi and in the town hall are also part of the «Wine and Culture» project.
On Palazzo Ottolenghi the two lots have started: they foresee interventions on the whole building, with restoration of the noble floor, and with the exception of the second floor.
In addition to the Israt headquarters, the Risorgiment museumoe of the Garibaldi Division, once the works are completed the building will house the Wine Museum, a wine shop, a restaurant. Construction work completed by summer 2024.
In Piazza San Secondo, the program of works for the town hall includes structural consolidation works, roof reconstruction, restoration and repainting. Once the refurbishment works have been completed, the ground floor will become the seat of the tourism office currently in Piazza Alfieri. At the moment we are working on the executive project. «The“ Wine and Culture ”Plan is one of the first practices we dealt with – they explain the mayor Rasero and the commissioner Imerito – carrying out the Brignolo council’s project, giving a list of priorities, but always having to deal with bureaucracy and technical times ». –
