The arrogance of the new councilors of the city of Neuquén is astonishing, who, months after taking office, want to know more than those who approved, after months of preparation, the Municipal Organic Charter in 1995.
Those who were government officials in past administrations and who continue to be involved in public service, now as councilors, are also not ashamed. The famous “career politicians”, those who have a “political waist”, an attribute that makes them different from ordinary citizens who want to participate in politics.
Gentlemen, what you have to have is dignity, honesty and respect for those who have given you their vote so that you are where you are.
The reformed charter clearly indicates what is defined as a public hearing and the conditions for requesting it.
-Article 157 The public hearing is the collective or individual right that inhabitants have to give and receive opinion and information on political-administrative actions, verbally, in a unit of act and with a pre-established agenda, in accordance with what is established by the relevant ordinance.
-Article 158 A public hearing may be called by decision of the executive or legislative bodies, or at the request of three percent (3%) of the voters. The hearing must be held within thirty (30) days of being requested.
It says nothing about the interpretations that each councilor gives to the request, like that of Councilor Artaza for example. A shame.
How is it possible that they do not realize that the signatures presented by the neighbors show that there is something that is not right? Their clients are calling their attention and they don’t realize it! Pride or stupidity, both incompatible with the exercise of public office.
It is time to rethink what kind of representatives of the people we want and act accordingly. We have the tools, we just need the participation. Shall we go for her?
