ROME. Fieg and Fnsi ask the government for urgent measures and structural interventions for publishing. “Publishers and journalists – say in a joint statement – guarantee readers quality information, correct and balanced, which is the natural antidote to disinformation and fake news”.
“Good information and freedom of expression, anchored in the existence of quality professional publishing, are in danger, attacked by an unprecedented crisis that threatens pluralism, the pillar of democracy, and puts thousands of jobs at risk and the very survival of companies “
The editors of Fieg and Fnsi, a unitary union of Italian journalists, address a heartfelt appeal to the Government, Parliament, political forces and draw the attention of public opinion “so that measures and resources are identified to ensure the sustainability of the sector, seriously at risk, and accompany him in the digital transformation phase by relaunching employment ». Fieg and Fnsi – concludes the note – “renew the request to start a permanent discussion table with the Government and Parliament for a new law for publishing, necessary to safeguard business investments, the work of journalists and freedom of information” .
