Queen Elizabeth’s Golf car

ROME – The indestructible passion for driving of Queen Elizabeth II resists almost 96 years of age, the just passed Covid and the stiffness of the legs from which she has been suffering in recent months. And all of Britain, she celebrates the new royal vehicle, a unique golf car. This is what has already been nicknamed “the Queen mobile”, a model designed specifically for the new needs of Elizabeth II, created in a very short time by the Danish Garia, the first luxury manufacturer in the sector, based on her golf top of the range Monaco 4 seater car and delivered to Windsor Castle less than three weeks ago.

A model that, according to what was revealed by the Sunday edition of the popular newspaper The Sun, cost 62,000 pounds, just under 74,000 euros, has already entered the heart of the queen who would have tried it personally for the royal gardens on a walk with her dogs before returning to be seen in public, for the ceremony in memory of Prince Consort Philip in Westminster. Garia, founded in 2005 by a group of Scandinavian engineers and designers in Greve, in the hinterland of Copenhagen, supplies vehicles for villas and mansions of the most important and richest personalities on the planet without ever revealing their identity, as well as luxury hotels and golf club. In 2016 he made himself known in the automotive sector for the creation of the Mercedes-Benz Style Edition Garia Golf Car in collaboration with the Stuttgart company.

With this new acquisition, Queen Elizabeth II confirms her passion for driving, demonstrated by decades of firsthand use of her Land Rover Defender. Six years ago, at the age of 89, photos of her with her at the wheel of a Range Rover went around the world. Now, she goes from the 5 meters of the great English off-road vehicle to the 3 meters of the Danish golf car, without making a turn. A vehicle actually used by the Queen Mother even from the age of 96, but unlike the parent who was always accompanied by a driver, Elizabeth II’s place will be that of the guide, at least as long as she can do it.

Alongside the steering wheel, it has a 10-inch display and a control for choosing the different mappings available. It is equipped with four leather seats and safety belts, has a fixed windshield and a rigid roof and even if it is open on the sides, it has insulating closures, heating and air conditioning to be used in all weather and road conditions also thanks to the larger 14-inch wheels, wide mudguards, led headlights for traveling in the evening. In addition, to satisfy any real thirst, it has a cup holder, tea cup holder and a large refrigerator compartment.
