ROMA – Promote micro-mobility in the name of safety and sustainability. With this goal, the first World Championship dedicated to electric scooters will kick off next year and will take place on all continents just like in the Formula 1 and MotoGP competitions. The format will be similar to that used for the Formula E electric single-seater races, with vehicles capable of reaching a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour, driven by drivers wearing special helmets and protective clothing. The first edition of this world championship for electric scooters will be called “eSkootr” (eSC) with vehicles developed with F1 supplies and methodology adapted to this type of competition. Among the teams on the track there will also be that of Helbiz, world leader in micro-mobility, which will do so with a new special model and with a team of three riders who will compete with the S1-X scooter all over the world from 2022.
The pilots will drive the Helbiz vehicle designed and developed by Ycom and Williams Advanced Engineering, on specially designed urban circuits, based on the provisions issued by local administrations. According to Helbiz, the technological developments and innovation of this specific racing model will then be transferred to models for urban use in order to improve all aspects of the scooters. “We are delighted to welcome Helbiz to eSC – said Khalil Beschir, CEO of eSkootr Championship – Together with the wider ambitions around the championship, I have no doubt that the Helbiz team will be competitive.
