Alexander McQueen Announces Seán McGirr as New Creative Director
In a recent announcement, luxury fashion brand Alexander McQueen, owned by Kering, revealed that Seán McGirr will be taking over as the new creative director. This comes after the release of the final fashion show designed by Sarah Burton in October last year. The brand has also released a preview of McGirr’s first series as creative director in the form of an image advertisement for the 2024 autumn and winter collection.
The brand’s copywriting office explained on Instagram that the new advertisement “uses Alexander McQueen’s past as the background, looking forward to the present and future” and features the brand’s idols and best friends, Debra Shaw and Frankie Rayder, as the protagonists. Shot by Tommy Malekoff and art directed by Edward Quarmby, the campaign is set against the backdrop of an ancient pine forest, filled with “Celtic Ambiance,” paying homage to the environment in which McQueen and McGirr grew up.
Seán McGirr’s first collection for Alexander McQueen is set to be released in Paris on March 2, and fashion enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the debut of the new creative director’s work. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated release.
