INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Stephen Curry got hot and it was barely enough to defeat Sabrina Ionescu. And he did it by three points, as one would have expected.
The Golden State star and top three-point scorer in NBA history beat Ionescu 29-26 in the Steph vs. Sabrina performed on Saturday before the All-Star Game. It was the first time a man faced off against a woman in the festivities before Sunday’s main game.
Ionescu won the WNBA 3-point competition last year with a record 37 points. She then broke Curry’s NBA record of 31 points.
From then on, a challenge was launched and plans were made for the two to collide on the All-Star weekend.
“Hopefully this isn’t the last time we do this,” Ionescu said.
It hardly will be, judging by the enthusiasm shown by the public, as well as many people associated with the NBA and WNBA. Curry’s prize was a championship belt, with images of a goat – in English “goat”, which is also the acronym for “greatest of all time.”
Without a doubt he is the best at long distance shooting. But Ionescu gave him a lot of fight.
