SUICIDAL ANGELS – Profane Prayer

SUICIDAL ANGELS
Profane Prayer
(Thrash Metal)

Label: Nuclear Blast
Format: (LP)

Release: 01.03.2024

After four years, you can finally hear a new work by SUICIDAL ANGELS with “Profane Prayer”. “When the Lions Die” starts quite melodically until the first vocals come in and add more depth. The musical break in the middle of the song, which gives the whole track a twist, right up to the guitar solos towards the end are also successful. Afterwards we go down to the “Crypts of Madness” where things get a little harder and the album picks up speed. Here you will find the typical SUICIDAL ANGELS sound, which immediately transports you away.

The track “Purified by Fire” impresses with fast riffing and hard, thrashy vocals, which are suddenly interrupted by a rolling sound and give the whole thing more variety. By now you will be captivated by the new album. “Deathstalker” feat. Sakis Tolis (ROTTING CHRIST), Fotis Benardo (NIGHTFALL) & Efthimis Karadimas (NIGHTFALL) – soft acoustic sounds played, a concept that worked well on previous albums. But here too the song builds up slowly, although it has to be noted that it stays on the more melodic track, which is of course due to the Melodic Death Metal influences of the two NIGHTFALL members. Above all, the clean voice of guest singer Fotis Efthimis Karadimas stands out here.

This is followed by the title track “Profane Prayer”, which of course has more brutal sounds and is more old school. In contrast, the lyrics and singing on “The Return of the Reaper” are more cutting and “Guard of the Insane” is also brutally slaughtered. The short and fast track “Virtues of Destruction” deliberately develops its aggressiveness. At the end you can expect the almost 10-minute track “The Fire Paths of Fate”, which starts with siren-like vocals before it slowly becomes even more thrashy.
