Surprise, those who drive the electric car travel more kilometers than those who use the petrol one

ROME – It remains difficult to imagine that European owners of electric vehicles travel on average 14,200 km each year, or 630 kilometers more than the 13,600 km traveled by owners of petrol and diesel vehicles. Yet this is what emerged from an in-depth research commissioned by Nissan to OnePoll that interviewed 7,000 people in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden and Denmark) from 29 January 2021 to 23 February 2021. .

“This research reaffirms that electric driving is not only an intelligent solution that helps the environment – underlined Arnaud Charpentier of Nissan Amieo – but also a fun, exciting and affordable choice. We believe that the spread of electric mobility also helps to dispel false myths about the range of these cars ”. The study also shows that among the European owners of electric vehicles interviewed, Italians travel the most, with an average of over 15,000 km per year, followed by those from the Netherlands (14,800 km). Furthermore, the majority of European electric vehicle owners (69%) are satisfied with the current charging infrastructure available and see it as a positive opportunity for those who switch to electric mobility. Almost a quarter (23%) therefore say that the most common false myth is that the current charging infrastructure is not adequate.

Almost half (47%) of European drivers say that the main advantage of a petrol or diesel car is greater range and in 30% of those who do not consider an electric vehicle, the majority (58%) fear their low autonomy in terms of kilometers. Furthermore, again among European owners of diesel and petrol cars, it is highlighted that 38% believe that the most important factor of choice of an EV would be greater autonomy, 32% would be attracted to the ease of recharging, and 30% say that a better charging infrastructure would convince him to change. Widely dispelled doubts among those who have already chosen an electric car: 70% of the current owners specify that the range is better than expected. (mr)
