For so many writing and life, “Secret Experiment” has a special meaning. In an exclusive interview with reporters a few days ago, he confided in his heart.

Achieve a leap in creation
“Secret Experiment” is good at logical reasoning and human torture, art, psychology and criminal investigation are intertwined, and suspense emerges endlessly. For Naduo, these two books represent a real shift in his writing.
That said, what he wrote in his early years was absurd and sci-fi, far away from reality. His writing is not within the aesthetic scope of his father Zhao Changtian. “My father wants my writing to be closely integrated with reality, so he always I like to recommend what he reads to me.” One night many years ago, Nadu was working on novels in the room. My father suddenly opened the door and handed him a book, saying, “I saw something that is very suitable for you to use as novel material.” This book is Zweig’s autobiography “Yesterday’s World“.
It was early in the morning after reading the related content that my father pointed out to him, and I was left alone in the room, and my hair felt terrified. What really frightens that horror is that the script spell written by Zweig is not from fiction, but from a real thing. This made Zweig unable to let go of his autobiography when he was dying.
In the next few years, this mystery about the script has been lurking in the depths of the subconscious. Even when I was creating other novels, I silently conceived how to write this subject into a new novel. After several years of deliberation, Naduo finally created the “Secret Experiment·A Hundred Years of Script Conspiracy” and the sequel “Secret Experiment: Fragmented Bones” in more than a year. He believed that he had also completed a leap in his creative path.
In “Secret Experiment: A Hundred Years of Script Curse”, the famous Shanghai actor Fickqun died bizarrely. The deceased’s nephew, Philadelphia, found a drama manuscript that Zweig had never released while cleaning up the relics, and decided to move it to China. Stage. Just as Philadelphia was preparing for this, Zweig’s autobiography “The World of Yesterday,” in which the creator of Zweig’s script always had doom came true, was once again fulfilled. Like many novels, this novel has fictitious components, and there are also many things that have happened in reality and people who have existed in reality. Naduo embeds real historical events in fictional suspenseful stories, and cleverly combines Freud’s psychoanalysis, the unknown stories of the surrealist painter Dali, and the mysterious hints of the great writer Zweig into novels. The background makes this novel a masterpiece that combines many elements such as history, suspense, art, and thriller.
After the age of 40, fulfill his father’s expectation
“This novel is the first work I transferred to a realistic theme.” Nadu said, “Secret Experiment” was first published in 2008. After the book came out that year, it was also the only time his father participated in his new book debut when he was alive. Activities, “More importantly, because 80% of the works are realistic content, for my father, this is the real novel in his eyes.”
Nadu’s father, Zhao Changtian, was the editor-in-chief of “Sprout” magazine before his death, and he also created a large number of works. The new concept composition contest he founded has fulfilled the literary dreams of a large number of young people. However, Na Duo engaged in suspense novel creation was not guided by his father. In Na Duo’s impression, when he was a teenager, his father recommended to him realist Russian literature, but Na Duo did not follow his father’s recommendation. He swims in the world of martial arts and science fiction. His father never interfered with his reading arbitrarily, but helped him borrow the books he likes to read from the Writers Association library.
It is said that the most important significance of his father to his creation lies in the creation of a reading environment and writing atmosphere. There are a lot of books in that many family, and the people who come from the family talk about literature and writing. “This environment and atmosphere make me feel that reading is a natural thing, and writing is not far away from me.”
In fact, Zhao Changtian has waited for years for his son to read and write about reality. That said, he read martial arts, reasoning, and suspense when he was a child. Later, when he wrote “The Secret Experiment,” he was deeply influenced by contemporary suspense writers in Europe and the United States. The creations of Dan Brown and Lawrence Bullock are very similar to Hollywood blockbusters, with a fast pace. , And more viewing angles. Later, I saw more works by social suspense writers, such as the works of Keigo Higashino, Miyuki Miyabe, Kotaro Isaka and others. It wasn’t until the past two years that he began to look at works with a stronger sense of reality, such as Alai’s “Dust Settled”, Jia Pingwa’s “Destroyed City”, Wang Anyi’s new work “A Knife, A Thousand Characters”, Yu Hua’s new work “Wencheng” and so on. Naduo finally fulfilled his father’s expectations when he was in his forties. Correspondingly, his writing has increasingly turned to realistic crimes and socialized reasoning. “I am not a talented writer. This is the result of my constant exploration and experimentation.”
Suspense novels should also have a literary criticism atmosphere
Naduo has officially written for 20 years. He said that the first time he tried to write was when he was a civil servant in Shanghai Customs. The good job in the eyes of others was a different feeling for him, so he wrote in a notebook. Something, he described, was a “hole from which he escaped.”
He has also worked as a reporter, and his three-year journalist career has allowed him to be good at integrating real events, real characters and suspenseful stories in his creation. In fact, when I first started creating, I was not sure which way I should choose. He has written urban romance novels as well as funny novels. He wanted to observe which type is more popular with readers and which type of creation can go further. In the end, he chose suspense and has not changed since then.
A few years ago, that Duo opened a restaurant for several years while writing, and the restaurant he opened is even the originator of the Internet celebrity restaurant. Nadu said that he never wanted to enter society from this angle, nor did he want to face such strange customers, but opening a restaurant took up too much writing time, and eventually he retired in stealth and returned to his desk. forward.
As one of the earliest suspense writers in China, he said that the ranks of suspense writers have grown in recent years, and excellent writers have appeared constantly, but the literary criticism environment of suspense writers is not satisfactory. Naduo believes that from the national Mao Dun Literature Award and Lu Xun Literature Award, to the literary awards established by literary magazines such as the People’s Literature Award, there is almost no opportunity for judging suspense novels. As a member of the association, Naduo feels his own “alternative”, and the suspense writer’s works are hardly qualified to be discussed. Regarding this, I am full of expectations. Suspense writers especially need the encouragement of literary awards and the voice of literary criticism.
Naduo launched a suspense writers salon last year, where Shanghai suspense writers began their verbal criticism and self-criticism. It’s said that this salon is popular with “one point and nine parts”. The writers who accept criticism have to walk for an hour or two to digest all kinds of voices, and then put into the next “retaliation” action, because they also Will criticize other people’s work mercilessly. Naduo believes that there are many technical aspects of suspense novels about character writing, suspense setting, novel rhythm, and dialogue authenticity, which are worth exploring, but now there are few opportunities like this, and this salon has allowed writers to grow and progress.
