The highly anticipated 2024 Seattle International Film Festival is set to take place from May 9 to 19, featuring a diverse range of films from around the world. Among the selected works are two Taiwanese films, “Spring Journey” and “Is It Time to Put You Down Now?”, which have been chosen for the “New Directors Competition” and the Short Film Competition units.

The film, entirely in Taiwanese, has garnered critical acclaim, including the Silver Shell Award for Best Director at the 71st Spanish San Sebastian International Film Festival. Director Wang Pinwen will also participate in a post-screening discussion at the festival.

Another Taiwanese work, “Is It Time to Put You Down Now?”, is an experimental animation documentary short film by Cai Yijin, exploring the emotional journey of a daughter coping with the loss of her father. The film has received accolades, including the Golden Horse Award for Best Animated Short Film.

In addition to these films, the festival will also showcase Chinese works such as “The Eight Rings” and “The Dragon Wings”, highlighting the diverse creative genres of Taiwanese cinema.
