Last Friday, an information seminar on chronic pain was held in Romano di Lombardia, organized by the Apollonia Polyspecialist Clinic of Capriolo in collaboration with the BCC Iccrea group and “near” mutual assistance. The seminar aimed to provide valuable information and strategies for patients suffering from chronic pain in order to improve their quality of life.

The seminar, moderated by Dr. Marco Baroni, pulmonologist, featured five speakers from the Clinica Apollonia, a healthcare facility of excellence in Capriolo. Dr. Giuseppe Campagna, a specialist in Neurosurgery, addressed chronic pain related to low back pain, herniated discs, and cervicalgia. He emphasized the importance of maintaining correct lifestyles to manage back pain effectively.

Dr. Giovanni Faustinelli, a specialist in general and vascular surgery, discussed chronic pain in the lower limbs, including conditions such as lymphedema, chronic veno-lymphatic insufficiency, and obliterating arteriopathies. He highlighted the importance of regular check-ups for patients with these conditions to monitor arterial vasculature function.

Dr. Michele Cuttica, a pharmacist and scientific informant for ozone therapy, explained the benefits of oxygen-ozone therapy for chronic pain. He emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary therapy for treating chronic pain and discussed the use of oxygen-ozone therapy for conditions such as chronic fatigue syndrome and Long-Covid syndrome.

Dr. Monica Salvi, a specialist in Physiotherapy, discussed the impact of chronic pain on disability and quality of life. She highlighted the importance of early treatment to prevent the sensitization and neuronal remodeling that can lead to chronic pain. Dr. Salvi also emphasized the prevalence of spinal disorders as a leading cause of chronic pain in Italy.
